The 2020 Adopt-an-Alp program got a late start due to COVID19 but we are again able to offer Raclette cheese from Alp Maran (Arosa, Graubuenden, Switzerland).
Supporting the smaller alps in the Swiss mountains is vital to keep the centuries-old tradition of transhumance alive where farmers are leading their dairy animals up the mountains in late spring to take advantage of fresh grass, making cheese along the way and not descending until fall, when cold weather threatens.
The resulting cheese is a delicious product crafted in surroundings with clean air, purest water, lush flora, and no fertilizing.
Alpage cheeses offer an array of health benefits. Over the course of the two last decades, many studies have proved them to the extent that in Switzerland "Alpkäse" by now is regarded as “Functional Food” – food that benefits one’s health.
So get ready for raclette cheese from Alp Maran 2020. The first batch will be ready to ship by December 7th. You will be able to pre-order the cheese starting on November 16th.
